What makes Camp Hoops different?

Camp Hoops is instructed and directed by Don Friday, who has 30+ years of coaching collegiate men's basketball at both the NCAA Division I and Division III levels. He has adapted the curriculum to address younger players who are established as well as first-time basketball participants.

What does a typical day look like?

A lot of fundamentals and development drills, competitive games and drills, and half-court and full-court activity daily! We build in rest periods; however, they will be up and active for the majority of the day.

Camp Hoops is for boys and girls entering grades 2nd through 11th.

Where is camp located?

We are excited to be in the beautiful gymnasium facility at The New Covenant Christian School, 452 Ebenezer Road, Lebanon, PA 17046.

How are campers grouped?

At the start of camp, we divide campers by birth year into leagues. We evaluate them after opportunities to play half-court, full-court, and through drills. We will move campers according to skill level, and within their league to create competitive balance of teams.

What is the camper to staff ratio?

We utilize a ratio of 8:1 camper to staff. This allows the counselor to help each camper become proficient through verbal cues and multiple repetitions.

Is lunch provided?

No. Campers must pack their own lunch and fluids.

Yes, parents are welcome to come watch camp.

What if my camper misses a day?

Yes. We ask that if a camper is going to miss a day, please notify the director. We also understand appointments come up in the middle of the day — just notify the director if your camper needs to leave and return for a partial day.

What are the extended care options?

We offer a 90-minute window before and after the 9am-3pm camp session, designed for working parents who don't have flexibility with pick-up and drop-off. AM Extended Care (7:30 AM start) is $25 additional. PM Extended Care (4:30 PM pick-up) is $25 additional. Choosing both AM and PM Extended Care (7:30 AM - 4:30 PM) is an additional $50.

What should my camper bring?

Athletic sneakers, socks, shorts, t-shirt, and a water bottle. We recommend leaving valuables, jewelry, and electronic devices at home. Most importantly, your child should bring a great attitude and a willingness to work hard and learn!

How do you keep campers safe?

Safety is our NUMBER 1 priority. We have strict rules! Campers are expected to never leave the gym facility. We are safety conscious at all times, and supervision is never 1 adult to 1 child in restricted spaces — we are always 2:1.

Who are the camp staff?

Camp Hoops is staffed by current and former collegiate basketball student-athletes and coaching staff members we are familiar with. All camp counselors possess: Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check (SP4-164), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (CY-113), and a Cogent Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Background Check.

What is the cancellation policy?

All camp cancellation and refund requests must be sent via email to dsfriday4@gmail.com. Refunds of full amount minus a $25.00 administration fee will be made for cancellations before June 15th, 2027, at 11:59 PM. There will be no refund for cancellations after June 16th, 2027, unless cancellation is due to an injury. If injured, the camper must produce a doctor's note to qualify for the refund, less than the $25.00 administration fee. Refunds will be made via check through Camp Hoops Business Office upon the doctor's note being presented.
